The Early Childhood Educator is accountable to the Childcare Coordinator and the Department Manager and is responsible for efficient and effective implementation of childcare activities in accordance with the National Childcare Standards, which ensures quality childcare programming to all services of the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association. This position is responsible for planning and delivering developmentally appropriate activities for children with mild to moderate disabilities.

The Project Instructor is responsible for assisting the Project Coordinator in executing key components of the Early Childhood Educator Project. The Project Instructor is responsible for updating and delivering a curriculum to ongoing intakes of participants to prepare them for Early Childhood Educator certification.

The Project Assistant/Liaison is responsible for assisting the project coordinator in executing key components of the Early Childhood Educator Project as well as assisting in the delivery of instructional activities. This position engages with community partners, ethnocultural organizations, faith-based organizations, and other entities as required to connect with clients with diverse backgrounds. The project assistant/liaison will also work with students one on one in the virtual classroom and contribute to all aspects of student and project feedback, reporting, and support. The assistant is responsible for mentoring project participants in their training and ensuring that all observational or participatory-related activities are supervised and facilitated effectively.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the daily supervision and administration of all project components of the Early Childhood Educator Project. The Project coordinator maintains close contact with the Project staff to help and support with issues and challenges arising on a daily basis that require leadership and decision-making. As well, the coordinator is responsible for anticipating and planning for changes needed throughout the Project, and for working collaboratively in the writing and submission of Project reports.
Outreach Worker – Early Childhood Educator Training Project

The role of the Outreach worker is to promote the Early Childhood Educator Training Project through community events, presentations, and digital marketing. The position is responsible for actively supporting the project in outreach, client recruitment, and service delivery. Additionally, this position will identify and implement outreach activities that will enhance the project’s overall presence in the community. The Outreach worker will be responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners.

Research and Data Specialist – Employment Synergies for Immigrant Women Project

The Research and Data Specialist is responsible for conducting research and data mining to produce an inventory of briefs and statistical information to be used to enhance services for immigrant and refugee women. The individual must have strong research and analytical background as well as exceptional communication skills.
Program Instructor – Line Cook Training

The Program Instructor is responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in executing key components of the program and delivery of a course designed to build occupational skills, English language learning, and employability skills. Training is provided through ongoing intakes of the Line Cook Training Program for immigrant women with mid-level English.

The Community Engagement Liaison assists in building relationships of trust and rapport with diverse communities and organizations to ensure access to timely and appropriate settlement services is provided to clients. The Liaison collaborates with immigrant serving organizations, community groups, organizations, and institutions to promote equity and inclusiveness in settlement services and assists in ensuring that Calgary East and West Zones consider, integrate, and meet the needs of underserved and vulnerable populations. The position is required to promote all CIWA’s programs and services through community events and presentations.
Computer Instructor

The Computer Instructor is responsible for the development and delivery of a computer instruction curriculum designed to increase client’s computer skills. The courses will focus on developing specific computer skills at levels that commensurate with participants’ abilities.

The Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instructions on topics including but not limited to workplace communication, business ethics, career, and occupational decision making,
and the gig economy (contracting/freelancing, temporary and online work). The course also covers managing taxes, digital skill building, networking, and job search techniques. The role is also responsible for assisting the Project Coordinator in executing key components of the project and delivery of training designed to increase participants’ employability skill building as well as the enhancement of professional English language skills and how to embrace and thrive in the gig economy.

Marketing Coordinator

The role of Marketing Coordinator is responsible for planning, executing and tracking of CIWA’s marketing strategies. This position will work with staff to develop content and establish marketing

Family Counsellor

The Family Counsellor is responsible for providing supportive and culturally sensitive short-term counselling for immigrant women, men and their families. The counsellor also provides referrals and other needed services to clients experiencing family violence and/or conflicts at home.
Youth and Civic Engagement Facilitator

The Youth and Civic Engagement Facilitator will work with young immigrant women of diverse backgrounds and inspire them to become more actively involved in their communities. Using creativity and available materials, the Facilitator will offer educational sessions and workshops that promote the value of civic engagement to youth. The Facilitator will also be responsible for recruiting participants to the Youth program and facilitating groups such as the Girls Culture Club and Summer Camps.

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful testing of customized pre-employment and skills development supports for immigrant women from racialized communities who have experienced prolonged detachment from the labour force and who live in Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon and Greater Toronto Area.
